Searching Oglethorpe Civil Dockets
The clerk's Case Search returned a 403 or redirect loop during research. Its fields and coverage are unverified. PeachCourt is the official civil filing provider and an account route, not a confirmed free search.
- Choose Superior or Magistrate Court.
- Check the civil calendar PDFs.
- Try the county link and Georgia E-Access.
- Call 706-743-5731 for Superior or 706-743-8321 for Magistrate.
- Visit or mail a request naming the case, date range, document, and copy type.
The Superior counter is at 111 West Main Street, and mail goes to P.O. Box 68, Lexington, GA 30648. Magistrate is at 109 East Boggs Street. No public terminal is confirmed.
PeachCourt and Oglethorpe Access
PeachCourt supports civil e-filing and document services. Its landing showed account controls but no open county search, price, or refresh schedule.
The manifest source shows the PeachCourt provider landing.

The account screen shows why filing access should not be described as a free public docket search.
Georgia Courts identifies PeachCourt as the mandatory civil e-filing route for Oglethorpe Superior Court. That designation tells a filer where to submit a civil pleading. It does not prove that a person without an account can search every party, date range, or case type. The public landing exposed only account controls during research. It did not reveal result columns, document prices, page limits, or an update schedule. When access depends on registration, record the court and case number before signing in and compare any provider result with the clerk's official file.
If the provider does not return the case, try the county Case Search link, the civil calendar index, and the Superior clerk. Give the clerk enough detail to separate similar names: the case number if known, both party names, the approximate filing year, and the civil record sought. Ask whether the file is scanned and whether a plain, certified, or exemplified copy is needed. A portal failure does not show that the complaint was never filed or that the case is closed.
Inside an Oglethorpe Civil Docket
The May 8, 2026 calendar identifies the clerk, judge, date, time, item, case number, parties, status, case type, filing date, cause, counsel, and note. 2026-OV-00000 illustrates an observed pattern, not an input rule.
| Case number | Observed year, OV prefix, and digits. |
|---|---|
| Parties | Plaintiff and defendant roles. |
| Status | OP or CL, not defined by the PDF. |
| Cause | Brief proceeding description. |
| Setting | Judge, date, time, and hearing note. |
A calendar is not the complaint, evidence, or judgment. Request the filed order when the result matters.
Oglethorpe Civil Status Codes
Local labels need care.
- OV
- Observed civil case prefix.
- OP
- Observed status, likely open but not defined.
- CL
- Observed status, likely closed but not defined.
- Pro Se File
- A party without listed counsel, not an outcome.
Confirm each code with the clerk or live file.
The sample materials support describing these as observed marks, not as a county data dictionary. “Open” and “closed” are sensible readings of OP and CL, but the clerk did not publish those definitions on the accessible pages. A closed status also does not explain how the matter ended. Read the last docket entries and request the final signed order, dismissal, decree, or judgment. For an OV case number, preserve the full number exactly as shown rather than rebuilding a format from one sample.
Civil Case Types on the Docket
Oglethorpe Superior calendars show contract account, family violence, divorce, contempt, modification, garnishment, paternity, legitimation, and other domestic matters.
- Contract and account disputes
- Divorce and domestic cases
- Protective-order hearings
- Contempt and modification
- Garnishment and related proceedings
Small claims up to $15,000 and dispossessories generally route to Magistrate. Adoption and juvenile-related records need a confidentiality check.
Oglethorpe Civil Filing Costs
The clerk lists a $216 complaint filing amount, $50 for each Sheriff's Entry of Service, and a $50 transfer fee.
| Item | Posted amount |
|---|---|
| Civil complaint | $216 |
| Service | $50 each |
| Transfer | $50 |
Verify the July 2024 schedule before filing. The civil forms index supplies current form links.
The same schedule notes that a civil, modification, or garnishment filing can include a law-library charge of up to $5 and an alternative-dispute-resolution charge of up to $10 when applicable. It shows no filing fee on the family-violence row. Garnishee service is listed at $50 for the first garnishee and $6 for each later one. These are filing and service costs, not a price for viewing a docket. Confirm the current total and accepted payment method before submitting a case.
Oglethorpe Civil Docket Settings
Notes can identify a final hearing, status conference, TPO hearing, divorce hearing, contempt, or damages setting. Check the title, judge, date, time, item, and case number together.
Call 706-743-5731 for a reset or later order. The clerk mails calendars, but an old PDF can remain. See Oglethorpe County court dates for the full check.
Oglethorpe Calendar Versus Order
A civil note says why a case was set. It does not state the ruling. The signed order or judgment establishes the result.
Ask the Superior Clerk for the exact decree, garnishment order, or judgment and state whether certification is required. GSCCCA eCertification may serve eligible records but requires an account.
Local civil calendars use notes such as final hearing, status conference, contempt, divorce hearing, temporary protective order hearing, and damages. Each label describes the purpose of the listed event, not the final result. A case can also be reset after the PDF is posted. Match the case number and setting date, then ask whether a later calendar or order changed the event. If the result is needed, name the specific order in the copy request rather than asking for every item in the file.
Oglethorpe Civil Copy Choices
A docket entry, an uncertified copy, and a certified copy serve different needs. The docket helps locate events. An uncertified image gives the text of a filed item for ordinary review. A certified copy carries the clerk's certification for a use that calls for official proof. The posted July 2024 schedule lists uncertified copies at $0.50 per page without clerk assistance or $1 per page with assistance. Certified or exemplified copies list the first page at $2.50 and later pages at $0.50.
Computer printouts are listed at $2.50 per page. Fax or electronic copies list $2.50 for the first page and $1 for each later page. These figures should be confirmed before ordering. Tell the Oglethorpe clerk whether the request is for inspection, a plain copy, a certified copy, or an exemplified copy. Naming the exact order and case number reduces search work and helps the office give a useful estimate.
Civil Docket Access Rules
Georgia begins with public access, but an Oglethorpe civil docket may contain sealed pages, protected identifiers, adoption records, juvenile material, or sensitive family-violence filings.
Key rules:
Rule 21 gives the court-file access baseline.
O.C.G.A. §§ 50-18-70 and 50-18-71 address access, timing, and fees.
O.C.G.A. § 9-11-7.1 addresses protected identifiers.
Ask for releasable parts with lawful redactions. A written request should identify the court, case, date range, record, and copy status.
The Georgia Open Records Act process does not erase court-specific limits. Juvenile material, adoption files, sealed cases, and protected identifiers may be withheld or redacted under the law or a court order. A request for a public civil file should be narrow enough for the clerk to locate it. Include party names only when needed, add the case number when known, and state whether inspection will satisfy the request. If access is denied in whole or in part, ask the custodian to identify the basis for that decision.
